The Horadric Cube becomes much more important in Diablo 4 Season 15. Besides the recipes shown in the crafting interface, the Cube contains several hidden combinations that are not displayed in the normal menu. These include Rune upgrades, Runeword crafting, Mythic Unique upgrades, affix rerolls, and several unusual seasonal recipes.

Rune Upgrade Recipes
Season 15 has two separate Rune upgrade ladders. The first starts with Tir and stops at Sol, while the second begins at Mal.
The low-Rune recipes are:
- 3 Tir → 1 Eth
- 3 Eth → 1 Ith
- 3 Ith → 1 Tal
- 3 Tal → 1 Ral
- 3 Ral → 1 Ort
- 3 Ort → 1 Thul
- 3 Thul + Chipped Topaz → 1 Amn
- 3 Amn + Chipped Amethyst → 1 Sol
There is no Sol-to-Mal Cube recipe, so collecting low Runes does not allow you to directly create the high-Rune ladder.
The high-Rune recipes are:
- 2 Mal + Flawless Amethyst → 1 Ist
- 2 Ist + Flawless Ruby → 1 Vex
- 2 Vex + Flawless Emerald → 1 Ohm
- 2 Ohm + Flawless Diamond → 1 Lo
- 2 Lo + Grand Topaz → 1 Ber
- 2 Ber + Grand Sapphire → 1 Jah
This makes the Cube particularly important for players working toward expensive Runewords such as Enigma, Infinity, and Grief.
Runeword Crafting
Season 15 also brings back classic Runewords through the Horadric Cube. You place the required common-quality base together with the necessary Runes, then transmute the combination into the corresponding Runeword.
Popular examples include:
- Enigma: Jah + Ith + Ber
- Infinity: Ber + Mal + Ber + Ist
- Grief: Eth + Tir + Lo + Mal + Ral
- Call to Arms: Amn + Ral + Mal + Ist + Ohm
- Insight: Ral + Tir + Tal + Sol
- Spirit: Tal + Thul + Ort + Amn
The base item must be appropriate for the recipe. This is important because the resulting Runeword depends on the type of base placed into the Cube.
Upgrade a Unique Directly Into a Mythic
One of the most useful Season 15 changes is the Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic recipe.
Instead of receiving a random Mythic from the same equipment slot, the Unique you place inside the Cube is directly upgraded into its Mythic version. Its existing affixes, Tempering, and Masterworking are retained.
There is an important restriction: the item must remain modifiable. An Unmodifiable item cannot be used for this recipe.
Mythics created through this Cube recipe also receive the Crafted tag, and only one Crafted item can be equipped at a time.
Affix Value Reroll
Season 15 adds another useful Cube option for already-good equipment.
The Affix Value Reroll changes the numerical values of the item’s base affixes without replacing the affixes themselves. Greater Affixes, Enchanted affixes, Tempering, and eligible Transfigurations are protected.
This is especially useful when you have the correct affixes but poor rolls.
Horadric Reroll for Charms and Seals
Charms and Seals have their own reroll option.
The Horadric Reroll completely randomizes their base affixes while preserving their Set Bonuses and Unique or Mythic powers. This makes it possible to improve an otherwise valuable Talisman without throwing away its most important special effect.
Other Hidden Recipes
Season 15 also contains several unusual Cube combinations connected to secret content. The Prime Evil Splinters can be combined to create Wirt’s Lucky Coin, which is part of the hidden Tristram and Uber Tristram content.
Other hidden combinations are connected to seasonal collectibles, special portals, and secret rewards. These recipes are not designed to replace normal farming, but they are worth completing if you are collecting everything Season 15 has to offer.
When Should You Use the Cube?
Do not upgrade every Rune immediately. Save high Runes when you already know which Runeword you want to craft.
Likewise, do not use the Mythic upgrade on an average Unique. Wait until you have a strong base with useful affixes, Tempering, and Masterworking.
For players who prefer farming rather than crafting or are looking to buy Diablo 4 runes, the Cube still matters because it gives you another way to turn duplicate materials and unwanted Runes into specific upgrades.
The Horadric Cube is one of the most useful systems in Season 15 because it rewards players who understand exactly what each recipe does. Rune upgrades provide a controlled path toward Ber and Jah, Runewords create powerful finished items, and the new reroll recipes make high-quality gear easier to refine.
The biggest rule is simple: always know what the Cube will preserve before you press Transmute. With expensive Runes and endgame gear involved, careful crafting is far more efficient than blindly experimenting.
